Su Su is an American artist, born into a Manchurian clan family in Beijing,

currently lives and works in New York.

Su Su’s painting revolves around two bodies of work, painting on canvas and painting on silk. Both employ oil paint, though in radically different ways. Oil paint serves as both medium and methodology in these works, facilitating metamorphic figurative paintings that navigate the intersections of cultural memory, and representations of femininity.

Susu received her MFA from Carnegie Mellon University, and from 2015-2021 served as a painting professor at Carnegie Mellon University School of Drama. Susu has been exhibited at institutions including The Andy Warhol Museum, Pittsburgh; The Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, Bentonville; The de la Cruz Collection, Miami; The Carnegie Museum of Art, Pittsburgh, The Momentary Museum, Bentonville, Muskegon Museum of Art, Michigan, The Chautauqua Institution of Visual Arts, New York, among others. Her works are held in the permanent collections of The Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, Bentonville; The de la Cruz Collection, Miami; The Lunar Codex project, NASA, Moon; The Bennett collection for Women Figurative Realists, Michigan, See World Art and Culture Center, Shenzhen; among others.

Her paintings have been featured in publications such as New York Times, Artsy Editorial, JUXTAPOZ magazine, GALERIE Magazine, ARTFORUM,  American Art Collector, Hyperallergic among others.
